We are seeking a collaborative and passionate laboratory scientist to support an innovative molecular pharmacology group, in a rapidly expanding company.

The role is based in our labs in Stevenage as part of a small team sitting at the core of our preclinical drug discovery effort.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved at the very beginning to establish Tessellates laboratory and direction of science.

We are looking to use our substantial funding to expand our innovative pipeline by exploiting additional targets for patients’ population with unmet needs. We've set up our Lab in Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst to support target validation and molecular pharmacology activities and grow the Tessellate business.

What will you do?

- Support the development and execution of laboratory work plans within the molecular pharmacology group.
- Author and approve technical documents, such as protocols, test methods, test reports, certificates of analysis, and operating procedures.
- Participate in Laboratory meetings, providing timely reporting of data and plans to the wider team.
- Work collaboratively with partners to ensure the success of projects.
- Be part of building the Tessellate way of working as part of a small and growing team.

This position applies technical and scientific knowledge to help design, execute and analyse experiments. Your work will significantly contribute to the direction of the company.

You will work with our Molecular Pharmacology Principal Scientist to support our laboratory team and drive the company's progress. You will work with all aspects of the discovery matrix to deliver key project milestones in line with company targets.

You will bring experience of Biological sciences with a strong cellular background. You should have experience in understanding of cellular pathways, including using small molecule to support this. You'll have a strong background in several of the following activities; cellular imaging, Western Blotting, qPCR or plate-based biochemical or cell based assays.

Your ideal skills and experience

- Ph.D. or MSc in Biological Science
- Previous experience with in vitro preclinical drug discovery assays
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Strong knowledge of technical methodologies including but not limited to cellular imaging, Western Blotting, qPCR or plate-based cell health assays
- Hands on experience with biochemical and cell-based assays commonly used in oncology drug discovery, ideally with plate- based assays and/or high content imaging
- Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to both present data clearly and accurately, as well as goals & tasks
- Strong organisation, planning and problem-solving skills
- Good relationship building
