Special Interest Groups
We run a range of Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings for our Gold members. Our SIGs include Purchasing, Human Resources, Business Development, IT, Corporate Communications, Facilities, Security & Business Risk and Health & Safety. The aim of these meetings is to provide a platform for people doing similar jobs in different companies to get together informally and discuss the issues that affect their working lives. Meetings are typically held three or four times a year, starting with a presentation on a topic nominated by the SIG, followed by discussion and lunch.
HR
The HR Special Interest Group has been established for a number of years. The group meets regularly throughout the year for a series of workshops and seminars on HR hot topics. The SIG is sponsored by Taylor Vinters Solicitors.
Taylor Vinters is a leading law firm based in the heart of the high technology cluster in Cambridge. Our main office is situated right on the edges of both the Cambridge Science Park and the Cambridge Business Park, and with our Brussels office we specialise in servicing the legal needs of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, both nationally and internationally, through our specialist T2 team which brings not only top quality legal advice to its clients but also up to date industry knowledge, making that advice relevant, understandable and practicable. Our aspirations as a firm match those of the people with whom we work - to be recognised internationally as a Centre of Excellence.
Facilities
These meetings are relevant to people who are responsible for the day to day running of their company's facilities. Discussions focus on key areas of facilities management such as equipment management and bench marking the cost of running labs and offices.
Purchasing
This SIG supports One Nucleus's well-established purchasing scheme, where Gold Member companies gain significant discounts on items such as laboratory consumables and office supplies and services such as pipette maintenance.
Security
The aim of this SIG is to bring together individuals responsible for both security and operational management. Recent talks have covered industrial espionage, security contractor management and managing risk in a laboratory setting.
Health & Safety
The aim of the Health & Safety SIG is to provide an area of communication for Health & Safety Managers.
These meetings were develop at the request of health & safety managers who wished to meet with their industry peers, topics covered - stress management, waste reduction, legislative updates and the overview of the challenges facing health and safety managers.
* One Nucleus reserves the right to exclude individual Gold Members from individual SIGs where we consider there to be a conflict of interests.
