Associate Scientist/Research Scientist – in vitro pharmacology (fixed term contract – 12 months), ref #1804-01

13 April 2018

Cerevance is a new pharmaceutical company harnessing a novel technology platform to deliver life-changing therapeutics for patients.  Focused on CNS diseases, our strengths include a pipeline of novel discovery and clinical-stage compounds and a proven team.

Our UK research operation is seeking to appoint a fixed term (12 month) Associate Scientist/Research Scientist based in our Cambridge facility (Cambridge Science Park). As part of the in vitro pharmacology team, this role will focus on the provision of assay development and compound screening support for drug discovery projects. There will also be an opportunity to be involved in a large scale CNS expression project to identify novel targets.

The successful candidate will have experience in the development and use of robust microplate screening assays (96/384-well), such as luminescence/fluorescence based techniques to monitor changes in cellular messengers (e.g. calcium and cAMP). These assays must be consistently run to a high standard to generate reproducible compound profiling data. This role requires expertise in aseptic mammalian cell culture (ideally including BSL 2), use of automated liquid handlers, plate readers and data analysis software. Knowledge and experience of working with ion channels and GPCRs would be advantageous. This position requires a candidate who is highly motivated and flexible, works carefully and methodically, and has excellent oral and written communication skills.

Candidates should have at least a B.Sc. in a relevant biology related discipline or considerable, relevant laboratory expertise. The successful applicant will be flexible and enthusiastic, and must work well as part of an interdisciplinary team. Cerevance offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Applications should be sent to by the closing date of 18th May 2018.
